So, What Will DIT’s do?

Discipleship

What does it mean to be a disciple?

This is the very core of the DIT program. Together, we will seek to answer this by turning our attention to the way Jesus lived, conducted his ministry, and called his disciples.

Jesus has called every man and woman of faith to this path.

“Then Jesus came to them and said,

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28: 18-20 (NIV)

Spiritual Practices

DIT’s will explore spiritual practices that have been used by followers of The Way to strengthen their relationship with Jesus, and themselves.

These practices range from simple things, like journaling and reading scripture, to the harder things like an evening of silence and solitude. Each DIT will respond to the practices in their own way, and we will explore these practices together.

12 One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.

Luke 6:12

Inductive Study

Each evening will include an inductive study of scripture. DIT’s will each take a turn leading one another in this unique method for studying scripture.

Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.

Psalm 1:1-2 (NIV)

Serving

We will work with Shiloh and Living Hope UB Partner churches in the Port Elgin area to serve the local community through their outreach initiatives. Each DIT will have a chance to engage with the community in a tangible, faith building way.

12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

John 15:12 (NIV)

…and Volunteer at UB Youth Camps!

Volunteering at UB Youth Camps is where each DIT will be able to practice all that they have learned throughout the DIT week. Below are just a few of the ways in which each DIT will be able to serve in a missional capacity… and have a ton of fun in the process!
